REQUIREMENTS FOR THE VALIDATION OF A PILOT LICENCE

Validation of Professional Flight Crew Licences

 The requirements for the Validation of a commercial or airline transport pilot’s licence issued by an ICAO contracting state are as follows:

  1. The foreign pilot’s licence must be valid.
  2. The applicant must produce a passport or other government issued document to establish nationality.
  3. Verify validity and authenticity of foreign licence from the foreign State remains in good standing.
  4. Accept the foreign medical if conducted in accordance with the provisions of ICAO Annex 1.
  5. Verify that the foreign licence complies with the provisions of ICAO Annex 1 for the class of licence held.
  6. Ensure the issuance of the foreign licence is equal to the standards prescribe for the issuance of a local licence with equivalent class and type.
  7. Accept the foreign instrument rating if conducted in accordance with the provisions of ICAO Annex 1.
  8. Accept the foreign type rating if conducted in accordance with the provisions of ICAO Annex 1.
  9. Pass an examination on Aviation Law, Flight Rules and Procedures. (if required)
  10. Foreign validation will be valid for a period not greater that one year. The Director reserves the right to limit such a period shorter than one year.
  11. Pay prescribe fee for examinations and licence.

Validation of Private Pilots’ Licences

 The requirements for the Validation of a private pilot’s licence issued by an ICAO contracting state are as follows:

  1. The foreign pilot’s licence must be valid.
  2. The applicant must produce a passport or other government issued document to establish nationality.
  3. Verify validity and authenticity of foreign licence from the foreign State remains in good standing.
  4. Accept the foreign class 1 or 2 medical if conducted in accordance with the provisions of ICAO Annex 1.
  5. Verify that the foreign licence complies with the provisions of ICAO Annex 1 for the class of licence held.
  6. Ensure the issuance of the foreign licence is equal to the standards prescribe for the issuance of a local licence with equivalent class and type.
  7. Accept the foreign instrument rating if conducted in accordance with the provisions of ICAO Annex 1. (If required)
  8. Accept the foreign type rating if conducted in accordance with the provisions of ICAO Annex 1. (If required)

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CONVERSION OF PILOTS' LICENCES

Conversion of Professional Flight Crew Licences

 The requirements for the conversion of a commercial or airline transport pilot’s licence issued by an ICAO contracting state are as follows:

  1. The foreign pilot’s licence must be valid.
  2. Produce a passport or other government issued document to establish
    nationality.
  3. Pass a Class 1 medical examination conducted by an BCAD authorized
    medical examiner.
  4. Pass an instrument proficiency flight test conducted by an BCAD authorised
    examiner.
  5. Complete type rating – both theoretical examination and flight test for each
    aircraft to be endorsed in the licence.
  6. Pass an examination on Aviation Law, Flight Rules and Procedures.
  7. Pass Aircraft (General) relative to aircraft type(s) to be endorsed in the
    licence: (If Required)
  8. Pay required fees for examinations and licence.

Conversion of Private Pilots' Licences

 The requirements for the conversion of a private pilot’s licence issued by an ICAO contracting state are as follows:

  1. The foreign pilot’s licence must be valid.
  2. Produce a passport or other government issued document to establish nationality.
  3. Pass a Class 1 or Class 2 medical examination conducted by a BCAD authorized medical examiner.
  4. Pass an examination on Aviation Law, Flight Rules and Procedures.
  5. Pass a class or type rating proficiency flight test conducted by an BCAD authorised examiner.
  6. If an instrument rating is held, you will be required to pass an instrument proficiency flight test conducted by an BCAD authorised examiner.
